- Alarm goes off
- I'm exhausted since I only had 3 hours of sleep since I stayed up late to finish up school work
- So, I hit the snooze a couple of times
5:50 a.m.
- Watch my husband and mom eat breakfast
- I feel like I am DYING of thirst, but I can't drink
6:00 a.m.
- Look at myself in the mirror as I move my jaw and look at my face one last time
- Try to comprehend a life of feeling, looking, and eating normally
- Not to mention not having to hold my jaw forward all the time to look normal
- Clean my teeth and tongue really well one last time
6:10 a.m.
- Shower
6:15 a.m.
- Get dressed in comfortable clothing
- Lightly blow dry my hair so it's not dripping wet when I get to the hospital
6:20 a.m.
- We are out the door and on our way to the hospital
6:45 a.m.
- Arrive at the hospital and figure out where to go
- Hand someone at the register's desk my driver's license
- Wait as the receptionist registers me, prints off labels with my information, and makes my hospital wrist band
- Receive directions for the next place to go
7:50 a.m.
- Since it was Saturday, no one was working at the next desk we were sent to. But, there was a number to call for the patients that needed to be directed to prep
- Hung out in the beautiful lobby with ridiculously comfortable reclining chairs and free coffee
8:00 a.m.
- A woman calls my name and tells my family that they will need to wait while I am prepped and then they can come back to see me before surgery
- Went to the bathroom one last time
- Undressed and changed into a hospital gown while I answered general questions about my health and past surgeries
- Laid down in the most comfortable bed I have ever been in
- The nurse drew my blood to check for pregnancy and then inserted the IV
- She then gave me an anti-nausea pill
- Met my anesthesiologist, who explained what his job is in the operating room and the potential risks
- He then had me use a nasal spray to open up my passages for when the breathing tube is inserted
- Surgeon arrived and explained to me what it will be like when I wake up
8:20 a.m.
- I said my goodbyes and was put under as they rolled me down the hall
11:10 a.m.
- Woke up from surgery
- Felt exactly as I did when I woke up from having wisdom teeth out
- Surgery took 1 hour and 50 minutes
- It took me just over an hour to wake up on my own
- The nurse gave me sips of 7-Up
12:00 p.m.
- Kindly demanded the hard drugs for the pain
- The drugs made me sleepy
- Nap time
2:30 p.m.
- When I wake up, the nurse asks if I am ready to go home and I say yes
- I make several trips to the bathroom to pee
- The nurse helped me get dressed
- I was led to a wheel chair and I chilled there for a few minutes
3:00 p.m.
- Discharged
- I demanded a shake from Sonic (I don't remember this)
3:20 p.m.
- Arrive at Sonic
- I demand cheese sticks, but I'm denied (again, I don't remember this)
- Slept the entire ride home
4:00 p.m.
- Arrive home and eat a little of the shake
- This makes me sick because I am supposed to be on a clear liquid diet
- I cry due to frustration and feeling helpless because I don't know how to eat or drink without opening my mouth (however, I'm sure my hormones were just really out of whack)
- My husband gives me drugs
- Nap time again
6:00 p.m.
- I need to pee (this happens every two hours for a couple of days)
- My husband helps me waddle to the bathroom
- I drink some warm broth and take more drugs
- Nap time
- This repeats over the next 6 hours
12:00 a.m.
- Feeling really good actually with pain and my energy levels are high
- Don't feel as if I had surgery, surprisingly
- Write my first blog post, watch Netflix, and fall back asleep
