Sorry for being M.I.A. for the past couple of months... Grad school has been crazy!
Not too much to report on other than numbness and jaw popping. Numbness and feeling has not changed at all. I am still numb in the left side of my lip and chin and inside along my gums, but I still have random sensations and poking feelings from time to time. I am just now starting to not notice the numbness as much and I'm getting used to it. Like I've mentioned, it can take a year or longer for the feeling to return and if it doesn't, I would still have gone through with this entire process. To have my teeth fit comfortably together and not have to hold my jaw forward to look "normal," makes it worth it. I would honestly say that I'd do it again even if I needed double jaw surgery and a genioplasty in order to achieve these results. 3 months of pain, discomfort, and inconvenience is nothing compared to a lifetime of a comfortable, fully functioning, and beautiful smile! Since my last post, my jaw popping has increased quite a bit. It feels as if my jaw slightly pops out of place and I am unable to close my jaws fully until it pops. It's a little painful and sometimes my jaw feels sore afterwords. I may get it checked out one day, but for now it isn't too big of an issue for me to make an appointment. I believe that is all there is to update you all on! Thank you all so much who have read my blog posts and followed me through my journey so far! Please feel free to ask me anything you want or just seek encouragement as you venture through your own journey.

Hello and thank you for updating everything for us! Do you think the popping could be TMJ problem? From what I've learned female under 25 who have undergone BSSO have greater risks of suffering from this. Let me know what your doctor think!! Cheers.

Thank you so much for your comment! Prior to surgery, my surgeon told me that my popping was due to my jaws not being aligned properly. So, I was under the impression that surgery would correct the popping. I think it is the same popping as before my surgery, but since my jaws are in a different position it is hurting more than before surgery. I was not aware that the popping was a risk. I was mostly warned about permanent numbness. I will probably wait until I'm over a year post-op before going back to my surgeon about this. I am under the impression that whatever things are like after one year, then that is how it is going to be. If I end up feeling I need to go, I will definitely update everyone on that! All that to say, yes I think the popping is TMJ and I didn't know about the risk since I was under the impression BSSO was a way to fix TMJ. Oh, well! I would have gone forth with the surgery even if this risk was stressed to me. Thank you for reading my blog and feel free to ask any other questions you may have! I hope I answered your question. Take care!

Your surgery is coming up! Fear and anxiety is to be expected for jaw surgery since it is so invasive, but the fear is way worse than the actual recovery (at least for me anyway). So to answer your questions:
